I know this is an oldie but after listening to Jonathan Harris at Flash on the Beach I can’t help but post about it. This piece of software is based on a very simple idea. It grabs any sentence from the blogsphere which has the word “I” and the word “feel” in it. It then grabs that sentence and any image associated with it and represents it in the analysis interface.
The graphic design is great. But that’s not important. Likewise the technology behind it which is also excellent is unimportant. What matters is that the result is compelling. Its human and it is truly engaging. We need more art of this sort. it has the capacity to tell us about the emotional life we live. I work in an industry which prides its self on creativity but compared to this most of the ideas are simply poor. We feel fine has been around since 2006. Its time someone came up with something to rival or beat it. Anyone feel up to the challenge? I feel fine how about you?.

Sonia is an external Library (API) for the Processing platform. It may also be included in any Java project.
The Sonia Library provides advanced audio capabilities such as multiple sample playback, realtime sound synthesis, realtime FFT (frequency) analysis of the microphone input, and writing .wav files from samples.
Sonia utilizes the JSyn plugin by Phil Burk. This means that users will need to install the JSyn browser plugin in order to view Sonia projects online. Click here to install the JSyn plugin.
To develop Processing projects with Sonia, you will need to include these files in Processing’s ‘Libraries’ folder (or alternitively in your project’s ‘code’ folder).

I saw this painting in a gallery in Vyner street last Thursday. Its by a chap called Andrew Newton its called Tony. I love the way that he obviously really enjoyed the texture of the old mans face and the vigorous way in which he represented it in paint. Really good stuff.

I was lucky enough to attend Flash on the Beach last week. Flash on the Beach is a conference all about the Flash platform and digital creativity.
Silverback
While watching the sessions several themes emerged time and again. Bringing delight to the work you do every day. Even the mundane. The chap that made this http://silverbackapp.com/holding/ was asked to make a HTML holding page for a web site. not the most exciting brief ever. He created parallax scrolling in HTML and CSS. Not bad.
There is a guy called Robert Hodgin he uses processing to create visuals which respond to sound. I must point out that that there is no editing involved. All he does is specify some simple rules for the computer to follow and let it compile over night. he then looks at the result and tweeks it till its finished.

Eric natzkey
This guy creates paintings using inverse kinematics. Its the equivalent of painting with digital strings dipped in digital paint.
Andre Michelle
until about a year and a half ago it was not possible to generate sound in Flash. a guy called Andre Michelle discovered a hack which made it possible this is the result.

A very nice guy called Richard Lord has created a brilliant light weight particle engine for Flash called Flint. It integrates neatly with Away 3D and Papervision but has its own rendering engine built in. I was lucky enough to catch his session at Flash on the Beach. I was seriously impressed with what it can do out of the box and even more impressed by the ease with which it can be extended. Oh and it does a nice job of handling flocking behavior too. I would think that this is going to be hot.

The new Flex components have a specialized skinning architecture which when coupled with FXG gives designers control of the design and fictionality to developers.
